Barry is a lifelong resident born and raised in Lake County. He grew up on the family ranch just west of Lakeview and graduated from Lakeview High School. He is passionate about sustainable natural resource management, his family and the community.
After earning a Bachelor of Science in General Agriculture from OSU 1989, he started a career with the Forest Service as a seasonal employee working in Fire Management on with the Lakeview Ranger District on the Fremont-Winema National Forest. He worked his entire career on the Fremont-Winema; he has been a Engine Supervisor, Assistant District Fire Management, several Operations Teams, District Fire Management Officer, and Deputy Fire Management Officer for the Fremont-Winema.
He and his wife Annette live on the ranch, where they raise their twin granddaughters. Barry also enjoys coaching youth sports granddaughters play including: volleyball, basketball, and softball. He loves spending free time with his family. One of the family's favorite events is to go to their "cow camp" in Nevada to gather cows in the spring to bring them back to Lakeview.
Commissioner Shullanberger's very involved in the community. He has been a member of the School Board since 2015 to present, and has been Chairman for the past three years. He has also been a member of Rotary since 2014 to present helping with projects and fundraisers to support the community. He is also a member of the Fremont Highlanders Ski Club that oversees Warner Mountain Ski Area; and has been the club president since 2012.
Commissioner Shullanberger was sworn into office January 4, 2021 and he is eager to serve the entire County.
